A message from the Rise Against Hunger CEO

My name is Barry Mattson, and on March 16, I was honored to join this amazing team
as the new Chief Executive Officer for Rise Against Hunger.

My first weeks on the job were clearly much different than I expected prior to the start of
the global health crisis we’re facing, but our mission of ending hunger is now more important than ever.

I gravitate toward audacious goals, which is one of the many reasons I am committed to
Rise Against Hunger’s mission of achieving a world without hunger.
I believe hunger and poverty are solvable issues when undertaken through
local community leadership — even in the midst of crisis.

As you may have heard, our organization’s ability to support people in need worldwide
has been challenged as restrictions on gatherings led to the cancellation or postponement
of 400+ upcoming volunteer meal packaging events.

Nearly 72,500 children and families could be impacted by meal shortages and other obstacles
in the coming months, and that number continues to rise as the situation evolves.
But no matter what the future has in store, with your help, we can meet the needs of
communities facing hunger across the globe.

Go to the URL below to watch a special message from our new CEO.

I hope you and your family are staying safe and healthy during this uncertain time.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Barry Mattson
Chief Executive Officer

Cindi and I dropped off our neighborhood’s monthly donation of food, to CORA’s food pantry today. About a dozen bags...

There are several County Programs supporting out of school children at this difficult time. This will be a long fight...

If you would like to know how to set up a similar neighborhood project where you live, perhaps we can arrange it with CORA.

I am blessed and honored to work with Y’all supporting our neighbors.

As you find yourself making a quick trip to get groceries, please consider picking up and dropping off a little extra for our Pandas. We went through a lot of inventory today, which we're glad we had on hand! But we could use some extra to get ready for our next push of 50 bags. Collecting through this Friday, 3/20, at Chatham Homes Realty, First Bank (conveniently next to Food Lion!), and Pittsboro Roadhouse. And, of course, at Angelina's Kitchen, who collects donations throughout the school year for us 🙂 Thank you, Rotary Club of Pittsboro, for getting this drive going for our community! Finally, if you're doubling down on social distancing, please feel free to donate at pes.memberhub.store/shopping/items/26582 ...
